If you get an FOI response like this, you should challenge it

Here’s the BBC showing how not to answer and FOI request.

I, optimistically, asked for copies of the interviews Jeremy Clarkson and the other Top Gear team we’re involved in after the fracas that saw the host get fired.

The BBC then provided this pitiful response as an answer to the FOI request…

A response like this should always be challenged at an internal review stage. This is because the public authority hasn’t fully explained why the exemption applies, and outlined in detail the reasons for them withhold the information. There’s really not enough detail in the response that was provided.

When the BBC did complete its internal review, where it properly considered the request, its position didn’t change but this is the full response, which should have been provided in the first place.
